Level: Form 4 (Intermediate)
Time: 2 periods of 70 Minutes
Aims : By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
- Identify the different kinds of cats and its characteristics.
- Provide reasons using simple present tense.
- Write a short paragraph using simple present tense and include adjectives.
Language Contents: adjectives and present tense
Technical Requirement: All students must have access to the computers, and the internet connection. The computers must already be installed with web browser(s) such as Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer and so on and so forth.

Preparation: There are several things a teacher must do before planning and conducting the lesson
- Locate the website (as stated above)
- Check the content by browsing throughout the questions (the appropriateness of the language, content, etc)
- Prepare worksheets based on the information gathered from the website (or make it interconnected with the previous lesson, or to other sources)
Procedure:
Set Induction (10 minutes)
- Teacher gives time for students to settle down in the computer lab.
- Teacher shows a few pictures of cat and asks the students whether they have seen or known the names for these cats.
- Teacher then shows a video clip of a cat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_AbfPXTKms) . Teacher asks the students to list the characteristics of cats. E.g: lovely, fluffy, cute, etc
- Teacher introduces the topic of the day.
Activity 1 (20 minutes)
- Teacher explains the things that the students need to do for this activity.
- Teacher shows the students the website, http://quiz.ivillage.com/home/tests/cats.htm, and asks the students to surf the website.
- Teacher firstly demonstrates by answering the quiz. During the demonstration, teacher discusses the words or phrases that students do not understand.
- Teacher then asks the students to take the quiz and finish it in 10 minutes.
Activity 2 (20 minutes)
- Teacher asks students complete a task sheets. The task sheet is posted in teacher's blog. The students are required to download the task sheet from the teacher's blog.
- The teacher asks the students to fill the table with the characteristics of the cat that they obtain from the results of the test.
- Then, teacher asks the students to look for the synonyms for each of the characteristics from online dictionary.
- Next, teacher asks the students to write a paragraph of why the pet owner should choose you and not the other cat.

- Teacher calls a few students to present their works to their classmates.
- Teacher asks the students to email the works to the teacher's email address.
Teacher recapitulates the lesson by asking students, and states the pertinence of the learning.
Follow-Up: Teacher asks the students to post their works in their blogs (the teacher has already asked the students to come out with personal blog beforehand). Then the students are required to look at their friends' works, take notes of the characteristics of each cat and comment on the works.
